Pastor Sean Miller grew up in Greenville, only a few minutes from Easley. He is a graduate of Berea High School and the University of South Carolina. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Gardner-Webb University in 2004. Later that year, he met his wife, Pastor Maria Miller, who currently serves as Chaplain of Lutheran Hospice in the Upstate of South Carolina, and as the contract pastor for Augsburg Lutheran Church in Union, SC. Together they have one child, Ethan, who is surviving day-to-day as a double "PK" (pastor's kid). Pastor Sean was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the ELCA in 2010. After serving as an associate pastor at The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Greenville, he accepted a call to St. Matthias in December 2013. He also currently serves as Chaplain of RoseCrest Lutheran Retirement Community in Inman, SC. In his "spare" time, Pastor Sean enjoys time with his family (especially attending Ethan's band concerts and watching PBS and This Is Us with his wife), reading, listening to podcasts, and geeking out on Star Wars, Star Trek, and The Orville.
Our Mission and Beliefs
Our church’s mission is to create and deepen relationships with God, one another, and our community by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
St. Matthias Lutheran Church is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregation. As members of the ELCA, we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. With our hands, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.
This is Christ’s church.
There is a place for you here.
We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace. Liberated by our faith, we embrace you as a whole person—questions, complexities, and all. Join us as we do God's work in Christ's name for the life of the world. Learn more at elca.org.
St. Matthias Lutheran Church offers a faith-based preschool.
It is a mission of the St. Matthias Preschool to provide a fully integrated preschool program to foster the child's social and emotional growth as well as their physical and mental development. Additionally, our sequential learning curriculum was developed to prepare the child for academics in kindergarten and elementary school.
